Flaine In March last year we spent a week at Flaine with the family for a ski vacation. For me, skiing for the first time in 20 years in France. In this blog my experiences and more about Flaine France.

Where is Flaine located? Flaine is a ski area in the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps, and is a part of the linked Grand Massif domain. It is in the territory of the communes of Magland and Arâches-la-Frasse. Flaine is linked to Samoëns, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, with 267 km of pistes in total. It featured the first 8-seater high speed chairlift, Les Grands Vans, and the first snow cannons to be installed in Europe. Flaine is often called the “big snowy bowl” due to it having one of the best snow records in the Alps.It is a modern, car-free resort with a wealth of amenities, all within close proximity to the accommodation. The exact location you see on the Flaine map.

Tips The village flaine, where most ski lifts that take you up, is a very modern town. High-rises and apartment buildings. Our house was just 2 kilometers from Flaine in Flaine Le Hameau. An absolute tip. Gorgeous wooden chalets in various colors surrounded by walls of snow. From Flaine Le Hameau you have the choice to drive to the ski lifts in the village or drive back a little to the ski lift “Du Lac” a large car park and a quiet ski lift directly to the top.
